Planning, Design and Analysis of Tailings Dams was written for geotechnical engineers, mining and metallurgical engineers, and regulatory personnel who have a fundamental knowledge of the principals of soil mechanics and water dam design. Steven G. Vick is a geotechnical engineer specializing in tailings disposal. Throughout his consulting career, Mr. Vick has explored the interface between theory and empiricism in tailings disposal. His research and technical publications formed the general outline for this book. After over 50 disposal projects, Mr. Vick is still intrigued by the complexity of the field.
