NORAD and the Soviet Nuclear Threat is the history of the air defence of Canada during the Cold War era. An actual NORAD exercise on 10 May 1973, called Amalgam Mute, is used as an example. This exercise tested that NORAD was honouring its motto: Deter, Detect, Destroy, and was protecting North America from aerial threat. There is an extensive explanation of the aircraft, squadrons, weapons, radar, and radar sites involved.

Included are two personal accounts of the first interception of a Soviet "Bear" bomber off the coast of Canada, and the first Canadian fighter interceptor pilot to win the coveted United States Air Force "Top Gun" award.

About the Author
Gordon A.A. Wilson immigrated to Canada in 1965 to take the aeronautical engineering course. Deciding to "fly 'em rather than build 'em," he joined the Canadian Forces in 1968 as a pilot. He flew a tour with 414 Electronic Warfare Squadron to exercise and test the systems of the North American Air (now Aerospace) Defense Command (NORAD). Wilson lives near Vancouver.

NORAD and the Soviet Nuclear Threat: Canada's Secret Electronic Air WarThis book gives an amazing insight into the joint USA/Canada operations set up to protect the North American continent from any attack from the Soviet Union during the Cold War period and the personal involvement of the author flying with the Canadian Air Force during those years. It is a must read for military and aviation historians who have an interest in the background to these matters and the solutions found to the difficulties in establishing and maintaining a joint operation between the two nations with changing political policies.

The cover is enticing and the book well presented with plenty of fine photos, both colour and B&W. I was impressed with the supporting material which provided many interesting insights and showed extensive research. The author captures the visceral excitement of flying in high speed fighters conducting interception exercises against real and simulated Soviet incursions. The use of live histories and anecdotes brings the narrative to life. Readers will come away with a better understanding of a significant period in our mutual defence of North America.

About the Author
James E. Hansen is an adjunct professor at Columbia University's Earth Institute, where he directs the Climate Science, Awareness, and Solutions Program. In 1995, he was elected to the National Academy of Sciences, and, in 2006, he received the American Association for the Advancement of Science s Award for Scientific Freedom and Responsibility and was designated by TIME Magazine as one of the 100 most influential people on Earth. He is the author of Storms of My Grandchildren: The Truth About the Coming Climate Catastrophe and Our Last Chance to Save Humanity (Bloomsbury, 2009) and more than 100 scientific articles on climatology and global warming.

Not meant for American motel operations

I purchased this book as an aid to a new venture I was becoming involved in. Unfortunately, this book is written from the viewpoint of a hotel/motel owner/manager in India. The description of the book failed to mention that. I assumed it was written for use by the average American citizen. It went into great detail of monetary issues (mostly in terms of ruples, not U.S. Dollars) and spoke in depth about foreign travelers. This book was not intended for use by the average mom and pop operation in rural America.

Book 2- Cherished Strife
Sumumpa si Irsa na tanging si Alvaro lamang ang kanyang mamahalin. Na hihintayin niya ang pagbabalik ng binata. Ngunit ang nagbalik ay isang lalaki na nagngangalang Sage. Nakumbinsi siya nito na ito si Alvaro at ang mga naging pagbabago sa mukha nito ay dulot ng plastic surgery.
Nagpakasal sila ni Sage. Pero ganoon na lamang ang gulat niya nang matuklasan niya ang katotohanan. Niloloko lamang pala siya ni Sage at ang kanilang naging pagsasama bilang mag-asawa ay puno ng kasinungalingan

Book 3- Tender Chaos
Mayaman at maganda si Scins. Ngunit nananatili siyang nag-iisa dahil sa pagiging tapat niya sa alaala ng namatay niyang asawa. Sinisikap naman ni Sullivan na kalimutan ang unang babae na minahal niya nang husto ngunit niloko at sinaktan lamang siya.
Sa pagtatagpo ng landas nina Scins at Sullivan, isang very passionate night ang naganap sa pagitan nila at naging obsessed si Scins kay Sullivan.
Ang tanging paraan para makalaya si Sullivan sa babae ay kung mananalo siya sa Blackthorn trial.

Book 4- Sweet Frenzy
Mapagpaniwala si Aisles sa mga panaginip, hula, anting-anting, talisman at kung ano-ano pang mga bagay na hindi maipapaliwanag ng science. Ang tanging pinahahalagahan naman ni Vid ay logic, science and common sense.
Ang tanging hadlang sa maayos nilang pag-iibigan ay ang paulit-ulit na panaginip ni Aisles na nagsasabi na kung magkakaroon sila ng relasyon ni Vid ay mamamatay ang binata

Book 5- Maelstrom Caress
Nang mahalin ni Rai si Grant Rodriguez, hindi siya nagdalawang-isip na ipagtapat dito ang tunay niyang pagkatao bilang ang wanted criminal na Crimson Thief.
Huli na nang matuklasan niyang isang undercover agent pala ang lalaki at nilansi lamang siya para mahuli. Sumumpa siyang pagbabayarin ang lalaki sa ginawa nitong panloloko sa kanya.
Pagkalipas ng ilang taon, natunton ni Rai si Grant. Gamit na nito ang pangalang Adam Garson at isa ito sa tinatawag na sentinels ng Blackthorn Academy.

Book 6- Love's Rampage
Twenty-one years old si Imogen. Ngunit dahil sa isang traumatic event sa buhay niya ay nag-regress ang kanyang isipan sa pagkabata. Ang isip niya ngayon ay may edad na fifteen years old.

Nothing less from Ms. A!!! Really the best!!! I've missed her type of writing, so unpredictable and full of twists! Her stories were not the typical and cliche' love story, actually its more on action and suspense that will make you want for more!

Congratulations Ms. A for your new endeavor! We'll be waiting for your upcoming e-books!

Awesome personalities of the whole cast. Unique and strong individual characteristics. Can't wait to read the students' stories... For some characters, there are some parts in which one would think he/she is being unfair/stupid, but then it turned out there is an explanation why they did that.
